I was truly blessed by God to be raised by Christian parents. As a young boy at a revival service, I heard the gospel of Jesus Christ preached and knew that I needed Jesus to be my Lord and Savior. That night, with my dad by my side I accepted Jesus as my savior.

In 1979, while on active duty with the U. S. Air Force, God moved me and my family to Ashland, Kentucky. It was there that we experienced God openly working in our entire family's life.  He led us to a church where the gospel was preached and the Bible was taught faithfully. God placed in me a hunger for the Word of God, and a desire to learn as much as I could. It was there that my wife Ellen, and my daughters Gena and Allison were all saved.  Since then, God has blessed me with two, godly son-in-laws and four, wonderful grandchildren. I thank God that my wife, daughters, and their families continue to serve Him.

It was also in Ashland that I was ordained as a deacon. While serving in the Air Force, God moved us to other locations. I had the blessing of serving at three other churches in various and fulfilling roles.  It has become clear to me that God placed me in those roles to prepare me to serve as an elder/pastor at Corydon Baptist Church. 

Currently, God is leading me to establish and lead a vibrant mercy ministry at Corydon Baptist Church.  It is our goal that, through this ministry, God will use us to show His mercy and love to our community.  I invite you come to Corydon Baptist Church and join us as we submit to, spread, and savor the reign of King Jesus.

Keith McWhorter
On Sunday, January 29th, 2012, Keith was called to be the new Preaching Pastor of Corydon Baptist Church!  Keith was saved by God's grace as a young boy, under the preaching of his Dad, and enjoyed growing in grace with his Dad as his pastor in Richmond, KY.  Over the last fifteen years, the Lord has faithfully provided him opportunities for spiritual growth, allowing him to serve in various youth ministries, as an ordained deacon, and as an Associate Pastor of Young Adults.  Keith attended Vanderbilt University, where he majored in Human & Organizational Development, concentrating on Organizational Leadership and Effectiveness.  Upon graduation, he was commissioned as an Officer in the United States Marine Corps.  Keith served in the Marines from 1995-2000, exiting as a Captain, then went to work for the General Electric Company in Owensboro, KY.  It was there that the Lord called him to preach and pastor.  Keith entered The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2004 and received his MDiv in Missions, Evangelism and Church Growth in 2007.  Keith has been married to Michele for sixteen years, and they have been graced by God with two daughters, Meaghan and Keileigh.

Personal Note from Pastor Keith

"My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior" (Luke 1:47).  These words of Mary reflect my own excitement as I begin to shepherd the precious flock of God here at Corydon Baptist Church.  I am humbled and honored beyond words, and simply desire for us to continue to grow as a people consumed by the glory of God in the gospel of Jesus Christ. 

If you are new to the area and looking for a church, please worship with us soon!  If you do, I just know that you will be blessed by God through the Christ-exalting worship, Word-driven preaching and teaching, and the loving unity of the Holy Spirit at CBC.  If you are looking for a church that does not just talk about family ministry, but is determined by grace to equip God's people to live in gospel-centered families and marriages, and to raise up children and grandchildren God's way, come to CBC!  If you want a church that desires to bend our lives to the absolute authority of the Word, come to CBC!  If you want a church where people own themselves sinners saved only by the amazing grace of God in Christ, come to CBC!  I sincerely hope to see you this Sunday as we once again gather to submit, spread, and savor the reign of King Jesus.
