Scientific Apocalypse?

At a recent world climate summit of some sort (I lose track of the official titles of these wacko things), we heard the expected headlines from the expected talking heads. Like John Kerry. (Is he still our Climate Czar? And are we Americans really going to keep tolerating government officials being given the title of Czar?) And Al Gore, preacher of Cosmic Climate Catastrophe. (Just how rich has he become from this gig, anyway?)

Well, suffice it to say that while I respect good, solid science, and honest research using proven methods, my confidence in anything tied to government funding is nil. And, `rank`ly, so much research and so-called “science” today is actually tied to government money. If the last two years taught us anything, it reminded us that when governments get in bed with any organization or institution, the baby born is tantamount to anti-Christ.

But, if the media keeps buying into the agenda, and keeps saying something often enough and long enough, millions of people begin to believe it. But we ought not be so gullible, especially we followers of the Messiah, King Jesus. Jesus warned His disciples that prior to the destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70, or prior to the end of life as we know it (depending upon your eschatology), there would be “many who come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and they will lead many astray. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet” (Matthew 24:5-6).

John Kerry says he and his cronies are literally “saving the world.”

Sounds dangerously close to what Jesus is . . . “the Savior of the World” (John 4:42).

Several months ago, I came across a blog article titled Wrong Again: 50 Years of Eco-pocalyptic Predictions. It really is a must-read (please do click the link below). I found myself chuckling at times, wincing at times, and staring catatonically in disbelief with mouth agape at times. Friends, consider some of the headlines reaching back to the 1960s:

“Dire Famine by 1975.”

“Everyone will disappear in a cloud of blue steam by 1989.”

“Ice Age by 2000.”

“America subject to water rationing by 1974.”

“Ozone Depletion: A Great Peril to Life.”

“No End in Sight to 30 Year Cooling Trend.”

“Maldives Completely Underwater in 30 years.”

And the hits just keep on coming.

Brothers and Sisters, listen to Jesus Christ the Lord of all Creation: “Do not be alarmed.”

But then again, be alarmed! For there is an Apocalypse coming. There is a Day of Reckoning. Just a little over a week ago, I stood overlooking the Valley of Armageddon. As our Jewish Christian guide read Revelation 19 to us there, I was nearly breathless and spellbound. Whether or not your interpretation of that text is literal or symbolic, every Christian down through the millennia has held that the King of kings and Lord of lords is coming again! To rule. To reign. To judge. To usher in eternity. The New Jerusalem.

Turns out, there will be a day of global warming.

“But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly elements will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done in it will be burned up” (2 Peter 3:10).

Are you ready? Has your sin account been settled long ago on the cross of Calvary? Have you been born anew with a heart that hates your sin and clings in faith to Jesus alone? Are you among those who “according to His promise are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells” (2 Peter 3:13).

Think whatever you want about Climate Change. But you will not answer to any scientist or government czar. You won’t stand before Greta Thunberg on the final day.

You and I and every single person who has ever lived with give an account to the Risen, Reigning Lord whose eyes are like a flame of fire!

And on that day, that apocalyptic day, you will either stand by faith in His righteousness alone, or you will be cast into the everlasting lake of fire. Where God’s fiery wrath against sin never abates. In that place, Jesus said, “The fire is not quenched” (Mark 9:48).

Renounce your sin and run to Jesus. He, and He alone, will save you. He, and He alone, is the Savior of the World.
